SUBJECT, VERB, and COMPLEMENT

Subject :
Almost all English sentences have subjects. A subject usually comes before a verb, but it can also come after auxiliary verbs. Subject is the person or thing that does the action of the sentence.

Verb :
Every sentence has a verb. it generally shows the action of the sentence.
The verb maybe a verb phrase. A verb phrase consists of one or more auxiliaries and one main verb. The auxiliaries always precede the main verb.

Example:
1. Four people/ were/ arrested/ for allegedly provoking the brutal acts.

Four people it is subject. in which the subject matter of person.
Arrested it is verb. Which verb do an act that is "arrested".
Were arrested it is verb phrase. in which the sentence has the word auxiliary which was situated before the main verb is “were”

Supposed it is verb. Which verb do an act that is "supposed".
Are Supposed it is verb phrase. in which the sentence has the word auxiliary which was situated before the main verb is “are”

Complement :

A complement completes the verb. It is similar to the subject because it's usually a noun or noun phrase, However, it generally follows the verb when the sentence in the active voice.

Example:
1. Christian has never faced /discrimination.

• Analysis: complement predicate, or verb. The location of the object sentence is after the verb. discrimination includes the complement of Gerunds.

2. SBY is a /President Republik of Indonesia.

•Analysis: a President of the Republic of Indonesia here we call a subject complement because of "a President of the Republic of Indonesia" explain "SBY"

3. In what could /became/ a model for other cities and towns in Libya.

•Analysis: because Became including linking verb that can only be followed by complement.
